International healthcare programmes

School of Medicine

A medical pathway and pharmacy route for students preparing for internationally relevant healthcare careers.

Biomedical Pathway Programme

The Biomedical Pathway Programme is a specialised field that provides a two-year programme in collaboration with the University of Surrey. It prepares you for your Bachelor's degree in Medical Sciences.

This programme offers a comprehensive curriculum, focusing on anatomy, physiology, pathology, communication, psychological and social factors, differential diagnosis, and patient management.

Upon completion of fulfilling the entry requirements, you have the opportunity to continue your studies at the University of Surrey Medical School, where you will participate in supervised practical work in simulated environments, learn from experts in the Centre for Anatomical and Surgical Education (CASE), and explore the use of modern technologies like virtual reality. You will also complete structured clinical placements with NHS trusts.

The BMBS Medicine degree prepares you for foundation doctor work and provides a foundation for practising medicine worldwide. This degree is recognised internationally and also allows you to work in medical research at internationally respected institutes and centres.

The University of Surrey is listed on the World Directory of Medical Schools and is recognised by the General Medical Council UK.

BPharm Pharmacy

The BPharm programme is designed to prepare students for future professional practice as pharmacists by developing the scientific knowledge, clinical skills, and professional judgement required in modern healthcare.

The curriculum focuses on the safe, effective, and responsible use of medicines while helping students understand the important role pharmacists play in patient care, public health, medicine management, and the wider healthcare system.

Students study basic and applied sciences, clinical and professional practice, prescribing, and patient-centred care through three core themes: Biological Science and Therapeutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Professional Practice and Prescribing. These themes are delivered through year-long modules using realistic healthcare scenarios linked to different body systems, allowing students to connect scientific theory with practical decision-making and real patient needs.

Throughout the programme, students develop skills in communication, problem-solving, medicine safety, treatment assessment, and collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals.

Upon successful completion, graduates can progress to the General Pharmaceutical Council foundation training year, which can lead to registration and professional practice as a pharmacist in Great Britain.

  • Award: BPharm Pharmacy.
  • Duration: 5 years (including IFP).
  • Academic direction: University of Greenwich.
